MY SWEET & SMART BOY

This little boy makes me smile so BIG!! I talk all the time about how amazing his atheltic abilities are... but there is so much more to my son than that. He is a very smart kid and probably one of the nicest 8 year olds you will ever know. I met with his teacher yesterday just to talk with her about how he is doing in school. She had all positive things to say. He has made all A's since school has started and not just making the cut.. I'm talkin' high A's here. All 97's and 98's!! He amazes his teacher more and more every day, she stressed that she is having to up his levels of work for him to be challanged more. Also there is something called the KC Club at his school. Maybe you have heard of it? It was put together by Darrel Scott, Rachel Scott's father. Rachel Scott was the first student to be killed in the horrible tragedy at Columbine High School. Rachel's father put together an amazing organization which has grown and spread all over the US. Their goals are to:

•Create a safe learning environment for all students by re-establishing civility and delivering proactive anecdotes to school violence and bullying.
•Improve academic achievement by engaging students’ hearts, heads and hands in the learning process.
•Provide students with social/emotional education that is both colorblind and culturally relevant. •Train adults to inspire, equip and empower students to affect permanent positive change.

At Bryson's school each teacher in each class will select one child that they feel represents this well. A child that is kind and compassionate and always helps others. Those children then receive a t-shirt and meet once a week to do different activities and talk about how to spread kindness. They choose a child for this every six weeks. Bryson was choosen by his teacher for the 1st six weeks. AWWW!! What a proud momma I am. Not only that but when Bryson told me about the first meeting, etc... I asked if he knew the other kids that were chosen. He said "well, yeah.. but they're all girls" My Bryson was the only boy in his grade that was picked for this. This makes me smile even a little bit more. Also the t-shirt is very cool. This organization is doing amazing things!!! And I am very happy my son has been chosen to be apart of it. On the front of the t-shirt it says "Got Heart?" My son does, a HUGE one!!! Love him to pieces!!!

  4. That is just so awesome, Crystal!! Our school does something similar, choosing a child from each class each six weeks. They have a group that is chosen for academics and one that is chosen for exemplifying certain character traits. I was proud of Madison for making it last year too. Those things are just wonderful, aren't they?!! They make us so proud and really encourages them to do their best too.

I love hearing about how proud you are of your sweet kiddos!!
