NEW BLOG!!!

So I have been doing LOTS of thinking lately... I have every intention on eventually starting a website and a photography blog, but the question is... when? Being a web designer myself, building a website or blog is not a difficult task for me. Just because I start a website, that does not mean I am labeling myself as a successful photographer. It is basically just a place for me to display the photos that I love... weather no one even looks at it or not. There are many people in my life to practice on... and I would only start a website for my own personal excitement. Yes I know, I know... I am such a computer nerd. But that's what I get for being a web designer!!! HA!!! I do hope my photography passion turns into more, but only time will tell. Why am I blogging about this? I know I don't owe anyone an explanation but I just wanted to throw it out there because I have heard a couple horror stories of pro photographers (very few) hating on new photographers... which I think is just silly. So just because I start a photography website or a photography blog, it does not mean anything... I know my photos are FAR from perfect. I have a LONG way to....

With that said, I have decided that I am going to go ahead and start a photography blog.. I have a feeling if I don't, then photography just might flood this (my family) blog and I really don't want that. I have also surprisingly connected with a ton of people through this blog regarding photography and I want to continue that through my photography blog. It is so neat talking with other people who have the same interest in photography. It is awesome to share ideas, conversations, tips, resources, etc. but I just don't want "photography" talk to take over my family blog. I am sure I will still post certain things here because it has become a part of "me", but I will post more on the photography blog. I will keep you posted, and let you know when it is up!!! I am super excited!!! Now the question is "name"... I have to have a name in order to start a blog... I really have a hard time coming up with names... that is so not my thing!!! So do I want to go with "my name" Photography or something totally different. Honestly, I think I rather go with something "different" I just don't know how I feel about having my name posted everywhere on the Internet. For those of you that have been reading my blog for some time now, know that about me. Okay, so the blog might no be up soon. HAHA!! It all just depends on how long it takes me to come up with a name. Let me re-phrase it... I HOPE to have it up soon!!!

Thank you friends for all your support by the way!!!

ps.. Have I ever mentioned that I have the BEST blog readers ever?!!!!! Well I do!!!!!!!!!

  3. I am so excited that you're going to take your passion to the next level. I vote you tie in your family and your "heart" background with your photography passion and name it something like "the heart of the photos" or "photos with heart" or something along those lines. Something that will tie you and who you are to those of us that found you through Bentley's heart journey. Just an idea.
    Can't wait to see it!

  4. Thanks for the comment, I should just email you. Feel free to email me if you wanna to chat more about cameras. melissajasmine@gmail.com

I have a Nikon D3000 I chose a Nikon because in talking with a few photographers they all said that Nikon lenses seem to be a bit cheaper to purchase and they felt that the cameras were a bit better made as far as durability goes. As for the D3000 vs the D5000 I didn't need the video on the 5000, I didn't really want to spend the extra $200-300 bucks on it, for 2 mega-pixels. I really feel that what lenses you invest in down the line will have more of an impact than the actual camera body you purchase. I got mine at Costco when they had a $100 off special and it came with a bag to carry it in, two lenses (18mm-55mm & 50mm-250mm) Hubs got me a cute camera strap cover for Christmas to make it "mine" as well as a new lense (50mm 1.8f) and a nice external flash that Angie recommended for him. I haven't ventured on how to use it yet. I gotta figure out the camera settings first.

So far, I don't have a single bad thing to say about the camera. Especially now that I feel like I'm at least as smart as it! When I first got it I was overwhelmed.

Shoot me an email if you want more info!
